Note. The pads must be replaced on both sides.
Remove the brake pads in the following order:
- turn on 1st gear and set the stops under the wheels;
- raise the rear of the car;
- remove the wheel;
- remove the drum with the hub;

- remove spring 1 (pic. 9.21) with the aid of a device;
- remove spring 5;
- remove hook 7 and lever;
- remove cups 2 springs and retaining springs;
- remove the front block, removing it from the groove of the spacer bar and the lower thrust plate 3;
- remove the spacer bar;
- remove the rear block;
- remove the forked tip from the spacer bar;
Note. The studs and spacers of the right and left brake mechanisms are not interchangeable - the left stud has a left-hand thread, the right one has a right-hand thread.

- install tool 1 on the wheel cylinder (pic. 9.22), so that the pistons do not fall out;
Attention! Be careful not to damage the bellows on the wheel cylinder.
- unscrew sensor 2 of the ABS system and take it aside;
- check the tightness of the wheel cylinder, the condition of the protective covers of the wheel cylinder, the wear of the drum;
- if necessary, replace the wheel cylinder and drum.
Install the brake pads in the following order:
1) clean the brake shield from dust and dirt;

2) replace O-ring 1 (pic. 9.23);
3) on surface A, apply a thin layer of lubricant type LUBRITHERM G200;
4) lubricate the parking brake lever drive axle;
5) lubricate the threads of the clearance adjuster stud;
6) remove tool 1 (see fig. 9.22);
7) attach the parking brake cable to the rear shoe lever;
8) secure the block by inserting the pin, spring and cup;

9) rotating gear wheel 1 (pic. 9.24), set the minimum length of the spacer bar 2 and insert it into the groove of the rear block;
10) install the fork tip 3 of the spacer bar so that the protrusion A faces the outer side of the wheel;
11) carry out subsequent installation in the reverse order of removal, while:
- apply to the sensor body 2 (see fig. 9.22) ABS system grease ESSO NORVA 275 and tighten to 9 Nm;

- tighten nut 1 (see fig. 9.20) fixing the hub to the drum with a torque of 200 Nm;
- lock nut 1 with the tool;
12) remove air from the hydraulic brake system;
13) with the engine running with great force, smoothly and continuously press the brake pedal several times;
14) reinstall the wheel by tightening the bolts to a torque of 85 Nm;
15) lower the back of the car;
16) adjust the parking brake.
