On later models with a 1.4L engine, the BOSCH MOTRONIC MP7.3 control system can be installed. This system is supplemented by a system of pulsed air injection and more improved in connection with the introduction of more stringent exhaust gas toxicity standards. The system provides sequential injection of fuel into the cylinders. A vertical acceleration sensor is installed on the car body, from which information about the quality of the roadway is sent to the ECU. This allows the system to distinguish between engine vibrations caused by road irregularities.
To determine the position of the piston of the first cylinder at top dead center, a sensor is installed on the camshaft. An additional oxygen sensor is installed behind the catalytic converter. The idle speed is controlled by a stepper motor mounted on the throttle body.
