Removal and installation of the intermediate muffler on the EW10J4 engine (Peugeot 206)

On the EW10J4 engine, the intermediate silencer is integral with the catalytic converter. Replacing one of the elements requires cutting the exhaust system when using the proposed method.

Removing

Removing the intermediate muffler on the EW10J4 engine is carried out in the following order:

• put the car on a lift;

• cut the pipe at the location indicated by stamped mark A (pic. 3.91);

Note. If the stamping is not visible, make a cross cut at line B = 170 mm (pic. 3.92) intermediate muffler.

• install tool 1 (pic. 3.93) to cut the pipes to the place indicated by the stamped mark A, and cut the pipe;

Attention! When cutting the pipe, generously lubricate the tool chain with oil.

• remove the intermediate silencer of the exhaust system.

Installation

Install the intermediate muffler on the EW10J4 engine in the following order:

• position the intermediate muffler in its place;

• install sleeve 1 (pic. 3.94) from the repair kit, centering it in relation to the pipe cut.
