Controlled headlight:
1 - ECU of controlled headlights;
2 - low beam lamps;
3 - high beam lamps;
4 - optical unit;
5 - headlights with directional light distribution.
Headlight system (adaptive lighting) equipped with xenon lamps (type D2R). These lamps do not have filaments, their light is created by two electrodes in a quartz ampoule containing a pressurized gas (xenon). Xenon lamps have a lifespan that is four times that of an incandescent lamp.
Attention. Before any operation to remove / install headlights with xenon lamps or to replace a defective lamp, it is imperative to disconnect the battery.
Controlled headlights are oriented depending on the angle and direction of the steering wheel and the speed of the vehicle. Swivel headlights illuminate the road area in the direction the vehicle is turning and allow low beam and high beam functions to be performed with a single lamp (xenon).
Switching from high beam to low beam is achieved by dimming (mechanical shutter), controlled by an electromagnet at any position of the turning headlight.
