Car corrosion protection
Wash your car regularly. Rinse the bottom of the car. When washing with high pressure, the spray nozzle must be located at least 30 cm from the painted surfaces.
Regularly check and restore anti-corrosion protection as necessary.
The anti-corrosion coating of a car in the usual case does not require maintenance for about 8-10 years. After this time, it should be treated at three-year intervals. If the car needs this treatment, contact an authorized Peugeot workshop for assistance.
Paintwork
The paintwork is an important component of the vehicle's anti-corrosion protection and therefore needs to be checked regularly. Paint damage must be repaired immediately to prevent rust formation. The most common types of damage to the paintwork are small stone chips, scratches and dents, for example on fender edges and doors.
Chips and scratches
Before starting work on restoring the paintwork, the car must be washed and dried, and its temperature should not exceed 15°C.
If the chipped enamel does not penetrate to the metal and a layer of intact paintwork remains under it, you can apply a new layer of enamel immediately after cleaning the damaged area.
If the enamel chip has penetrated to the metal:
- attach a piece of masking tape to the damaged surface. Then remove the tape along with the remaining paint;
- mix primer thoroughly (primer) and apply it with a thin brush or match. After the primer has dried, apply the enamel with a brush;
- treat scratches in the same way as above, but apply masking tape around the area to protect intact paintwork;
- after a few days, polish the repaired areas. Polish with a soft cloth and a moderate amount of polishing paste.
