General description of the suspension and steering (Peugeot 305)

Both the front and rear suspension on the Peugeot 305 are independent. The front suspension struts are MacPherson struts and incorporate double-acting telescopic shock absorbers and coil springs. The lower ends of the struts are connected to the lower suspension arms and anti-roll bar. The front wheel bearings are at the bottom of the struts. Here are the front brake mounts, the support of the lower arms of the front suspension and the swing arm.

The rear suspension consists of 2 independent trailing arms carrying the rear wheel trunnions. The vertical movement of the wheels is controlled by telescopic shock absorbers and coil springs, and their independent movement is limited by an anti-roll bar.

The rack and pinion steering mechanism is located at the bottom of the bulkhead of the engine compartment, behind the transmission.
