1. If you suspect that there are leaks in the system, it should be pressure tested. To do this, it is necessary to pressurize the system using a hand pump with an adapter that is installed on the filler neck of the expansion tank instead of the plug.
2. Install the pump with the adapter on the expansion tank neck, start the engine, warm it up to normal operating temperature and turn it off.
3. Pressurize the pump to 1.4 bar and check that the system maintains it for at least 10 seconds. If the pressure drops too soon, there are leaks in the system that should be located and repaired.
4. Leaks can be not only on the hoses, but also from the core of the radiator or heater. A blown head gasket or cracks in the head or block can lead to so-called. "invisible" leaks, however, their presence can be judged by such signs as a decrease in engine efficiency, regular skipping of a flash, or the presence of gases from the combustion chambers in the coolant.
5. After completing the tests, allow the engine to cool and disconnect the pump.
6. From time to time check a condition of a stopper of a broad tank. As a rule, the cork is checked using a hand pump. The set pressure of the safety valve is specified in Specifications and is usually placed on the cork itself. A defective plug must be replaced.
