2. Remove the air cleaner (see chapter 3B).
3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the upper hose from the thermostat housing cover (see photo).
4. Turn out 4 bolts and to remove a cover of the case of the thermostat from a water outlet of a head of cylinders. The fast idle cable does not need to be disconnected. Remove gasket (see pictures).
5. Using circlip pliers, remove the circlip from the cover and pull out the thermostat (see photo).
6. If necessary, remove the rubber sealing ring from the thermostat (see photo).
7. To check the operation of the thermostat, lower it on a thread into a vessel with cold water and check that the thermostat is first closed. Heat the water and check that the thermostat begins to open at the temperature indicated in Specifications. Continue heating the water and check the thermostat's full opening temperature and minimum valve travel. When finished, let the water cool down and check that the thermostat is fully closed. A defective thermostat must be replaced.
8. The thermostat is installed in the reverse order. When installing the thermostat in the cover, make sure that the vent is on top and replace the gasket with a new one. Pour coolant into the system (see section 6).
