Carburetor Solex 34 PBISA 14 or 16 and 35 PBISA 14
1. From a practical point of view, these carburetors are identical to the 34 PBISA9 carburetor. Sizes of jets, etc. specified in the Specifications. Minor features in regulatory procedures will be discussed later in this chapter.
Carburetor Weber 34 IBP
2. This carburetor is used on some XL5 engines instead of the SoLex 34 PBISA 14 carburetor which it closely resembles.
3. The adjustment procedure for this carburetor is generally the same as for early model carburetors. Small features will be discussed below.
B/Fig. 12.15. Cross sections of the Weber 34 IBP carburetor:
a - Air jet
g - Idle jet
Ce - Calibration port for enrichment system
E - Enrichment jet
F - Float
Gg - Main jet
I - Accelerator pump injector
K - Small diffuser
P - Needle valve
W - Quality screw
Carburetor Weber 36 TLP
4. This carburetor is installed on low tuned versions of the XU5 engine and is a single barrel downdraft carburetor with manual choke. The vacuum unloader provides a slight opening of the choke after the engine starts.
5. Idle speed is adjusted as described in section 7. The location of the quantity and quality screws is shown in B / fig. 12.17 and 12.18. The quantity screw controls the volume of the mixture passing through the bypass channel of the idle system.
6. The carburetor is rebuilt according to the same principle as indicated in section 11. Other adjustments are described later in this chapter.
Carburetor Solex 32-35 TACIC
7. This carburetor is fitted to XR5S engines and is a dual chamber downdraft carburetor with automatic choke. The chambers work in series, so that at a small or medium throttle opening there is the effect of a small single carburetor, and at a large throttle opening, two carburetors. A special locking device prevents the second chamber from starting when the engine is cold.
8. Because this carburetor uses the same idle bypass system as the Solex single barrel carburetor, the idle adjustment procedure remains the same as described in section 7. Other types of adjustments are listed later in this chapter.
Carburetor Solex CISAC or Z1
9. The Solex CISAC carburetor or Z-type carburetor is similar in design and operation to the TACIC carburetor described above. The location of the idle adjustment screws is shown in the attached photo. The quality screw is closed with a special plug.
Carburetor Solex 34/34 type Z
10. This carburetor is installed on the latest models with automatic transmission and GTX.
Carburetor Weber 32/34 DRTC4 100
11. This carburetor is similar to the TACIC and CISAC carburetors, but in addition it has an electric anti-knock valve that shuts off the idle system when the ignition is turned off.
12. Idle speed is adjusted as indicated in section 7. The location of the adjusting screws is shown in B / fig. 12.26.
