1. The intake manifold is connected to the cylinder head by 4 short hoses, which we recommend replacing when overhauling the engine. These hose clamps must be in good condition. At the slightest doubt, they should be replaced so that later you do not have problems with a too lean mixture. Check the contact surface of the carburetor for distortion and defects and flush the water jacket channels in the manifold with clean water.
2. Inspect the exhaust manifold for cracks and obvious damage. Use a ruler to check the surfaces in contact with the cylinder head for distortion. In the presence of pits or irregularities, it may be necessary to regrind the contact surfaces (produced in the workshop). If the defects are too large, the collector must be replaced. Carbon deposits are removed from the exhaust manifold using a flexible wire or scraper.
