Gear Shift Lever — Overhaul and Adjustment (Peugeot 305)

1. The gearshift lever mechanism is shown in B / fig. 6.13. As a rule, it does not cause any special problems, and its bulkhead consists of inspecting individual parts for wear and damage, lubricating the ball joints and pivot axles, and replacing defective parts. The need for a complete replacement of the gear lever mechanism may arise only after the car has been in an accident or with very high mileage.



2. In order to adjust the lever mechanism or when installing a new mechanism, make the length of the adjustable rod as shown in B / fig. 6.15, and check that the length of the switching link (between centers) was the same as shown in B / fig. 6.16.




3. When assembling, lubricate all moving joints with the correct type of grease.
