1. Differential seals can be replaced without removing the power unit from the machine, but the drive shafts must first be removed (see chapter 7).
2. After removing the drive shafts, remove the old oil seals from the differential box by prying them with a screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the box.
3. Before installing a new oil seal, clean its seat. Apply some grease to the new oil seal to make it easier to install, and carefully hammer it into place with the flat side outward using a suitable punch so that the oil seal sits on the thrust flange in the differential case. Repeat the above procedure for the second gland.
4. Before installing the drive shafts, fill the space between the jaws of both oil seals with grease. Clean the drive shafts and install them, being careful not to damage the new oil seals.
