Drive shafts - removal and installation
1. For shaft removal procedure, see paragraphs 12-21 above. If you take care to catch the oil that will spill out when the shafts are disconnected, there is no need to drain the oil from the gearbox.
2. Be aware that if you attempt to roll the machine with the drive shafts disconnected, it could damage the front wheel bearings.
3. Shafts are installed in the reverse order. If you replaced the final drive oil seals with new ones, use the oil seal protector when installing the right drive shaft (attached to new seals). Tighten all fasteners to the correct torque and replace the steering and suspension ball nuts with new ones.
4. If necessary, add oil to the gearbox.
Replacing the intermediate bearing
5. Remove the right drive shaft.
6. Remove the bolts and remove the motor mount/intermediate bearing housing. If the bearing does not come out with the drive shaft, press the bearing with its O-ring out of the housing (see photo).
7. Install a new bearing with a new O-ring. Install bearing housing and drive shaft. Tighten all fasteners to the correct torque, replacing the steering and suspension ball nuts with new ones.
