To protect electrical circuits, fuses of the corresponding color are used. The health of the fuse is determined by the presence of a wire conductor connecting the contacts of the fuse.
When working on electrical equipment, remove the wire «masses» from the battery in order to prevent the possibility of a short circuit in electrical circuits.
The electrical equipment of the engine consists of an ignition system, power supply, electric start, lighting and light signaling. In addition, the system includes instrumentation and additional equipment.
Energy saving mode
From the moment the engine is stopped, some systems and mechanisms (windshield wiper, power windows, sliding roof panel, ceiling lamps, car radio, etc.) it is possible to use a total of only 30 min, so as not to drain the battery too much
After the allotted 30 minutes have elapsed, the multifunction display will show the message «Power saving mode enabled» and the operation of these systems will be temporarily suspended.
In order for temporarily disconnected electrical consumers to start working again, start the engine and let it run for a few seconds.
If the battery is discharged, the engine cannot be started.
Automatic unloading of the onboard electrical network
While the vehicle is in motion, performing certain functions (air conditioning, heated rear window, electric heating of the passenger compartment on vehicles with a diesel engine, etc.) may temporarily stop depending on the state of charge of the battery
Reactivation of temporarily disabled functions will occur automatically as soon as the battery reaches the appropriate state of charge.
Note. Manual forced activation of suspended functions is still possible, but this increases the risk of draining the battery.
Automatic low beam headlights
To activate the automatic dipped beam headlights:
- turn the ignition key to position «Power supply for auxiliary consumers»;
- set the lighting switch to position «0»;
- press the end of the switch for 2 seconds, a confirmation message and an audible signal will appear on the multifunction display screen.
Follow the same steps to disable this feature.
Electrical Precautions
To prevent damage to semiconductor devices when working on electrical equipment, follow these guidelines:
- while the engine is running, do not disconnect the battery, alternator or any electrical connectors;
- remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;
- when carrying out electric welding work on a car, turn off the alternator and electronic control device;
- do not allow the engine to run with the generator disconnected from the electrical system;
- do not check the health of the generator by shorting its outputs to «mass».
General recommendations for work with electrical equipment
Before removing electrical components or disconnecting electrical connectors, turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire «masses» from the battery.
After installing the electrical equipment or electrical connectors, connect the wire «masses» to the battery.
Initiate all electronic systems.
Recommendations for working on airbags and pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners
Deactivate the integrated airbag and seat belt system when doing any work on the control panel, steering column, front seats, centralized airbag and seat belt system, or all welding or body work.
A set of pyrotechnic elements must always be disconnected before using measuring instruments, such as an ohmmeter or other devices under voltage, to check the constituent elements and electrical wires.
A set of pyrotechnic elements may work if live tools are used to troubleshoot the system.
Initiation of electronic systems after battery connection
Window regulator. Each time the battery is disconnected, the power window function must be re-initiated. For this:
- turn on the ignition;
- raise the glass in the driver's door with the power window up to the stop and continue to hold the button pressed for another 2 s;
- lower the window in the driver's door with the electric window lifter down to the stop and continue to hold the button pressed for another 2 s;
- carry out a full rise of the glass by pressing the button once;
- lower the window completely by pressing the button once.
Attention! Perform this operation for all vehicles with dual-mode (sequential) power windows.
Sliding roof panel. After each disconnection of the battery, reset the function of the sliding roof panel. Initiate only in the maximum lift position (3rd position) by pressing for more than 1 second the button of the sliding roof panel switch.
Blind with anti-clamping system on 307 SW vehicles. Possible options for the operation of the shutter and the system that prevents pinching:
- if the blind is fully open or fully closed when the battery is disconnected (or motor power), then the system does not require re-initiation, since it stores its stop positions in memory;
- if the curtain moves while the battery is disconnected (or motor power), the system needs to be re-initiated;
- if during the initiation of the anti-jamming system the shutter encounters an obstacle in its path, the system will perceive this lock position as the fully open position;
- disconnect the battery to restart the system (or motor power) during the opening or closing cycle and start over with the initiation procedure;
- to initiate the jamming protection system, hold the switch in the closed position until it is completely closed and continue to press the switch for another 2 s.
Attention! If the system loses its positions «Open» And «Closed», the blind will only be able to open a quarter of its full travel.
