All engines except the 16-valve XU9J4 engine are equipped with a drive belt driven from the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine.
On models without air conditioning, the belt drive drives the alternator and power steering pump. On air-conditioned models, the belt drive drives the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. On XU9J4 models, a separate drive belt drives the power steering pump from a pulley at the end of the camshaft.
