Signs for setting the ignition on the flywheel
The ignition timing is checked at idle after the vacuum pipe is removed from the ignition distributor and the pipe is closed with a plug. Signs for checking the ignition setting are visible through the hole in the clutch housing (graduation plate and flywheel mark). The engine must be warmed up to normal operating temperature.
1. Connect the strobe lamp to the high voltage wire of the 1st cylinder according to the lamp manufacturer's instructions.
2. Remove the vacuum line from the vacuum regulator of the ignition distributor and close the line with a plug.
3. Start the engine and check the idle speed, which should be 750 rpm.
4. Illuminate the test marks in the hole in the clutch housing with a stroboscopic lamp and take a reading of the ignition advance.
5. If this value is different from 8° (at 750 rpm engine), loosen the ignition distributor and turn it so that the sign on the flywheel is aligned with the 8°division on the plate.
6. Tighten the ignition distributor and recheck the ignition timing with a strobe light.
