1. Remove ground wire from battery.
2. Loosen and remove the alternator drive belt.
3. Remove the camshaft drive belt covers.
4. Using the pulley bolt, turn the crankshaft so that the timing drive elements are set in a position that allows them to be fixed with rods.
5. Release toothed belt tension and, if necessary, remove belt tensioner (the figure shows the automatic tensioner for models 1580 cm3 and 1905 cm3 with 8 valves).
6. Remove the blocking rods from the pulleys, remove the toothed belt.
7. Unscrew the bolt securing the camshaft pulley, holding the pulley from turning with a special tool, and remove the pulley. Check for tightness (by the presence of leaks) front camshaft seal.
8. Unscrew the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley, while holding the pulley from turning, fixing the engine flywheel, and remove the pulley together with the key. If the engine is installed in a car, you can fix the crankshaft from turning by turning on 4th gear and depressing the brake pedal. Check for tightness (by the presence of leaks) front crankshaft seal.
9. The pulleys are installed in the reverse order of removal, after which it is necessary to adjust the toothed belt tension.
