On automatic transmission models, there are 2 switches located on the brake pedal bracket. Of these, the brake light switch is the left one.
Removing
1. Remove the fuse box cover.
2. Disconnect the connector from the key block.
3. Unscrew the screws and remove the lower instrument panel trim. Access to the brake light switch (indicated by an arrow) very difficult and can be improved by removing the steering column.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the switch and remove it from the bracket.
Installation
1. Screw the brake light switch into the bracket so that the gap between the end of the switch housing and the protrusion on the brake pedal is 2-3 mm.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the switch and check the operation of the brake lights. The brake lights should come on after the brake pedal is depressed approximately 5 mm.
