Attention! When removing the valve, be careful not to get dirt into the fuel pump.
Attention! The described operation applies only to the Bosch fuel pump.
The engine stop solenoid valve is located at the end of the high pressure fuel pump.
Its task is to stop the fuel supply when the ignition is turned off. If there is a break in the electrical circuit in the valve or supply wires, it will not be possible to start the engine, since fuel will not flow to the injectors. The same will happen if the solenoid valve plunger is stuck while the engine is stopped (valve closed). If the solenoid valve plunger is stuck in the open position, the engine cannot be stopped when the ignition is turned off.
If the solenoid valve coil fails and the engine cannot be started, the following temporary repair can be made by removing the valve and installing it back without the plunger and spring. The engine can now be started normally and shut down using the manual engine stop lever on the high pressure fuel pump.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the rubber boot, then unscrew the nut and remove the wire from the solenoid valve (indicated by an arrow).
3. Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid valve, then unscrew and remove the solenoid valve with O-ring.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
