Dial gauge with adapter mounted on a Bosch fuel pump
Attention! To carry out the check and adjustment, it is necessary to use a dial indicator and Peugeot No. 0117AK adapter.
1. If pump injection timing is being tested on an engine-mounted pump, after reinstalling the pump, remove the negative battery terminal and cover the alternator with a clean cloth or plastic bag to prevent fuel from entering the alternator.
2. Remove the injector lines.
3. Install the timing mechanism until the mounting holes are aligned, then turn the crankshaft a quarter of a turn counterclockwise.
4. On the pump, unscrew the plug located at the rear of the fuel pump, in the center between the injector pipe connections.
5. Instead of a plug, screw in an adapter with a dial indicator. Set the indicator probe in the middle of the stroke and tighten the locknut securely (see fig. Dial gauge with adapter mounted on a Bosch fuel pump).
6. Slowly rotate the crankshaft in both directions and watch the indicator needle to determine that the fuel pump piston is at bottom dead center. After installing the piston, set the indicator needle to zero.
7. Slowly rotate the crankshaft in the working direction until the crankshaft locking rod can be installed.
8. The value shown on the indicator must be equal to that specified in the technical specifications. If adjustment is necessary, loosen the front and rear nuts and mounting bolts and slowly rotate the pump housing until the indicator shows the required value, then tighten the pump mounting bolts and nuts.
9. Turn the crankshaft 1 and 3/4 turns in the working direction of its rotation and, slowly turning the crankshaft in different directions, set the dial indicator to zero.
10. Slowly turn the crankshaft in the working direction of its rotation until the crankshaft can be blocked with the blocking rod. Recheck the value measured by the dial gauge.
11. If it is necessary to re-adjust, loosen the pump mounting nuts and bolts and repeat the previously described steps.
12. When the fuel injection timing is adjusted, unscrew the adapter and remove the dial indicator.
13. Replace the adapter with a plug and tighten it securely.
14. Install the injector lines, connect the battery and bleed the air from the fuel system.
