Removing
1. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.
2. To fix the engine crankshaft from turning, the assistant must engage fourth gear and press the foot brake all the way. At this time, loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt. If the engine is removed from the vehicle, secure the flywheel ring gear with a retainer. Never fix the crankshaft using the hole in the pulley to install the timing mechanism.
3. Unscrew the bolt and remove the pulley from the crankshaft. If the pulley has a slip fit on the crankshaft using a key or pin, remove them. If the pulley is pressed onto the crankshaft, remove it with a puller.
Installation
1. Install the keyway into the crankshaft groove. Install the pulley on the crankshaft, aligning the groove on the pulley with the key.
2. Clean the threads of the pulley bolt and coat with an anti-threading agent (Peugeot recommends Loctite Frenetanche).
3. Screw in the bolt with the washer of the pulley.
4. Install and adjust the tension of the auxiliary drive belt.
