Removing
1. Remove the center console.
2. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
3. Remove the exhaust system and heat shield. Loosen the nut and remove the pivot bolt that secures the shift rod to the base of the shift lever.
4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lock washers securing the three tie rods (indicated by arrows) to the ball joints on the gearbox. Disconnect the shift rod from the angle arm pivot point and remove it from underneath the vehicle.
5. Use a lever to separate the plastic head from the bolt securing the shift lever to the crank arm and bottom frame.
6. Unscrew the pivot bolt of the angle arm and remove the angle arm and linkage from under the vehicle.
7. Inspect all items for wear or damage. If necessary, remove the shift lever as follows.
8. Unscrew the lock nuts of the gear lever and raise the mounting plate.
9. Remove the bottom guard from the base of the arm, then detach the arm mounting plate and remove the upper arm guard to access the arm pivot point ball joint.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points:
- lubricate all moving joints with molybdenum disulphide grease;
- check that all protective rubber covers of the gear lever are installed in their places;
- install heat shields and exhaust system.
