Attention! If the prescribed procedure is not followed, there is a risk of burns from acid escaping from the battery. In addition, there is a risk of injury and injury if the battery explodes. Damage to the vehicle's electrical equipment is also possible.
A discharged battery must be properly connected to the on-board network.
Attention! Starting the engine by pushing or towing is not recommended.
1. Check the electrolyte level in the discharged battery. Top up with distilled water if necessary.
2. Place the cars in such a way that their metal parts do not touch, otherwise voltage may already arise when the wire is connected to the positive poles of the batteries.
3. Apply the parking brake on both vehicles. Set the manual transmission to neutral, the automatic to «R» — «parking».
4. Disconnect all current consumers of the on-board network on both vehicles.
5. Connect the starting aid wires in the following order (see illustration):
A) connect red wire 2 to (+) battery of the vehicle whose engine is to be started:
b) connect the other end of 1 red wire (+) to the positive battery terminal:
V) connect the black wire to (-) 3 auxiliary batteries, and the second end to a solid «mass» (-) 4 starting vehicle at a sufficient distance from its battery, fuel lines and brake hoses.
Attention! It is not allowed to connect the wire to the negative pole of the battery of the vehicle being started.
4.5 Connect the starting aid wires in the sequence shown
6. Protect wires from damage by rotating parts such as radiator fan blades.
7. Start the car engine with the battery supply and leave it to idle for a few minutes.
8. Start the car engine with the dead battery. Operate the starter for no longer than 15 seconds.
If the engine starts, run both engines at idle for at least two minutes to get the engine running smoothly before disconnecting the auxiliary battery wires.
Attention! Do not turn on the consumers of the onboard network before disconnecting the auxiliary wires.
9. Disconnect the auxiliary wires in the reverse order of connection. This means that the black insulated wire must be disconnected first.
