The gear rack of the steering mechanism is covered with a black corrugated cover on both sides. Covers should be inspected regularly, because water and dirt that has entered through cracks will damage the steering mechanism.
49. Turn the steering wheel all the way. The corrugation of the cover will be stretched and you can check its condition. If there are cracks, the cover must be replaced.
50. Make sure the boot clamps are tight.
