51. Make sure the rubber caps are not cracked. If the caps are cracked, the tie rod ends must be replaced. At the same time, the tips can be checked for play. This test is carried out with the vehicle on wheels by turning the steering wheel to one side and the other. You can apply the tie rod in one direction and then in the other direction. If the steering wheel has increased free play or the traction is easy enough, then the tie rod ends should also be replaced.
In a similar way, you can check the internal joints of the tie rod, which is quite difficult. If these hinges are defective, then the entire tie rod must be replaced.
