Note. Mark the position of the washers and spacers on the seat belt anchors and reassemble them in their original position.
Front seat belt
Removing
1. On models with a sliding side door, remove the B-pillar trim panels as described in paragraph 28. On models without a sliding side door, remove the side trim panel as described in paragraph 28.
2. Remove the decorative cap, and then turn out the bolt of the lower element of the fastening of the belt and remove the washer.
3. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an inertial coil.
4. Using a 3.5mm drill bit, drill out the blast rivet securing the belt guide to the B-pillar.
5. Remove the inertial coil from the door pillar, and then remove the seat belt from the vehicle.
Installation
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Use a new explosive rivet to secure the seat belt guide. Ensure that all washers and/or spacers are positioned as noted prior to removal. Tighten all bolts to the specified torque.
Front seat belt buckle (models without seat belt pretensioners)
Removing
7. Remove screws or release clips (whichever is applicable) and remove the trim panel from the side of the seat.
8. Each seat belt buckle is bolted to the front seat frame (with puck).
Installation
9. Tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
Front seat belt buckle (models with pretensioners)
Attention! On models with seat belt pretensioners, before removing the seat belt buckle post, perform the following steps as a precaution:
- A) Remove the ignition key.
- b) Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see «Disconnecting the battery») and wait two minutes before proceeding further.
Attention! Never open the seat belt pretensioners or attempt to inspect them. Keep in mind that the pretensioner is activated when an electric current is applied to it (including current supplied when using an ohmmeter) or when exposed to temperatures above 100°C.
Removing
10. The seat belt buckle post is an integral part of the seat belt pretensioner mechanism.
11. Remove the front seat as described in paragraph 26.
12. Turn out a bolt and remove a clip from the case of a pretensioner of a seat belt.
13. Disunite an electric socket on a pretensioner of a seat belt.
14. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a pretensioner of a seat belt and remove a pretensioner in gathering with a rack of the lock of a seat belt from a seat.
Attention! Do not hold the pretensioner by the lock or post, hold the element only by the pretensioner body.
Installation
15. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, but observe the following precautions:
- A) Before installation, disconnect the ground wire from the battery and turn off the ignition.
- b) Do not touch the seat belt buckle after turning on the ignition.
Rear Seat Belt
Removing
16. Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel as described in paragraph 28.
17. Release the finishing plate, then turn out the bolts and remove the upper element of the seat belt attachment.
18. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an inertial coil of a seat belt to a car body and remove the coil and a seat belt from the car.
19. To remove the seat belt buckles, fold the rear seats forward and remove the bolt securing the buckles to the rear seat support.
20. To remove the inertia coil of the center seat belt, the seat must be partially disassembled. This work should be entrusted to a Peugeot/Citroen dealer.
Installation
21. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the seat belt mounting bolts to the specified torque.
