Removing
1. The parking brake cable consists of two sections (right and left), which are connected to the lever through a leveling plate. Each section can be removed individually.
2. To gain access to the parking brake adjuster nut, remove the rear section of the center console as described in chapter 11.
3. Place wheel chocks under the front wheels. Raise the rear of the vehicle and securely jack stands under it (see «Lifting and placing the car on supports»).
4. Release the parking brake and then remove the parking brake adjuster nut (pic. 13.5). Slide the equalizer plate off the adjuster stud and remove the appropriate parking brake cable end from the equalizer plate.
5. If necessary, loosen the nuts, and then release the heat shield to gain access to the front of the relevant parking brake cable (-s) exhaust systems on the bottom of the car. Release the front end of the cable sheath from the body and remove the cable from the appropriate support guide.
6. Track the cable along its entire length, release it from the plastic clip on the fuel tank and the wire support hooks on the bottom and trailing arm.
7. Remove the rear brake pads from the appropriate side as described in paragraph 5. Using pliers, carefully release the cable sheath from the brake shield and remove it from under the car (pic. 15.7).
