Note. At installation it is necessary to use new sealing rings.
Removing
1. Disconnect the wire «masses» from battery (see «Disconnecting the battery»).
2. Remove the air filter assembly and air intake lines as described in chapter 4B.
3. Release a collar and disconnect a vacuum hose from the pump.
4. Remove the three bolts / unscrew the nuts (with washers) attaching the pump to the left end of the cylinder head, and then remove the pump along with the two O-rings. Discard the O-rings; when installing, use new ones. On models with a 2.0L engine, check the condition of the strainer at the rear of the pump and replace if necessary.
Installation
5. Install new O-rings into the grooves on the pump, and then align the drive lug with the groove on the end of the camshaft and install the pump on the cylinder head. Be careful not to dislodge the o-rings (pic. 21.5).

6. Screw in bolts / screw nuts (don't forget the pucks) pump fasteners and tighten them to the specified torque.
7. Connect the vacuum hose to the pump and tighten its clamp.
8. Install the air filter assembly and air intake lines as described in chapter 4B or 4B, and then connect the battery.
