Removing
1. The power steering pump is mounted on the front side of the engine.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt as described in the relevant part chapter 1.
3. On later models with a diesel engine, release the four plastic clips and remove the engine top cover.
4. On later petrol models, remove the bolt and heat shield from the rear of the power steering pump.
5. Unscrew the filler cap of the power steering reservoir and, using a suitable syringe or pipette, pump out the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir.
Note. Do not suck hydraulic fluid with your mouth as it is poisonous.
6. Place an absorbent rag under the supply and return lines of the pump to collect the escaping liquid and be prepared for the liquid to flow out.
7. Remove the nut and bolt securing the supply line to the support bracket located either at the rear of the pump or next to the cylinder head cover (pic. 22.7, a, b).

8. Loosen the union nut and disconnect the supply line from the top of the pump. Move the piping to the side and adequately plug the end of the piping and the pump port to prevent dirt from entering.
9. Release the clamp and disconnect the return hose from the pump. If a crimp-type tie is still in use, cut it and discard it. When installing, use a standard worm gear clamp (screw) clamp. Properly plug the end of the hose and the port in the pump to prevent dirt from entering.
10. Remove the rear bolt and two front bolts and remove the pump from the support bracket (pic. 22.10, a, b). The front bolts can be accessed through holes in the pump pulley.

Installation
11. Bring the pump to its normal position, screw in the pump mounting bolts and tighten them to the prescribed torque.
12. Connect the supply line to the pump and tighten the union nut securely. Fix the pipeline to the support bracket.
13. Connect the return hose to the pump and securely tighten the appropriate clamp.
14. On later models with a diesel engine, install the engine cover. On later models with a gasoline engine, install a heat shield on the back of the pump.
15. Install and tension the accessory drive belt as described in chapter 1A or 1B, whichever is applicable.
16. Finally, bleed the hydraulic system as described in paragraph 21.
