Before checking
- Place the car on a flat horizontal platform.
- Set the steering wheel to the straight ahead position.
- The engine must be off.
1. On vehicles manufactured prior to September 2002, the power steering reservoir is located on the right side of the engine compartment. The fluid level should be checked with the engine off. The liquid level is visible through the translucent tank wall. There are marks on the side of the tank «MIN-MAX»
Advice. To ensure the accuracy of the check, do not turn the steering wheel after turning off the engine.
2. The fluid level must be between the marks «MIN» And «MAX». If refilling is required, wipe the adjacent area clean before removing the cap to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir
Safety first!
- If the power steering reservoir requires frequent topping up, this means that there are leaks in the system that must be immediately identified and repaired.
3. Unscrew the cap and do not take it away from the tank until all the liquid from it drains into the tank. Refill the tank to the mark «MAX», using the prescribed brand of fluid. Do not overfill the tank. Once the correct level is reached, replace the cap and tighten it securely
4. On vehicles manufactured after September 2002, the power steering reservoir is integrated with the power steering pump located on the front of the engine. With the engine stopped, wipe the area around the reservoir filler neck clean and unscrew the filler cap on the reservoir
5. Wipe off all liquid from the dipstick attached to the cap with a clean rag. Replace the cap, remove it again and note the fluid level on the dipstick. When the engine is cold, the fluid level should be between the lower («ADD») and middle («WITH») dipstick marks. If the engine is warm, the fluid level may reach the upper mark («H»)
6. If the fluid level is at or below the low mark, add fluid to the mid mark. Use the prescribed working fluid. Do not overfill the tank. Once the correct level is reached, replace the cap and tighten it securely
