Engine coolant temperature gauge and coolant overheat warning light
As the engine warms up, the pointer needle gradually moves towards the middle zone of the scale. When normal operating temperature is reached, the needle should stop in the middle zone.
If the arrow enters the red zone of the scale, this indicates overheating of the coolant, which is fraught with serious engine damage. In hot weather, even slow movement can cause the arrow to move closer to the red zone. In this case, it is recommended to stop and turn off the engine. You can continue moving after a while, but try not to use hard acceleration.
If the arrow again tends to the red zone of the scale, you should immediately stop, turn off the ignition and try to find out and eliminate the cause of this phenomenon or seek qualified help.
Attention! Never remove the expansion tank cap when the engine is warm, as this may cause scalding.
Attention! Under certain operating conditions, the radiator cooling fan may continue to run for several minutes after the engine has been switched off. Be careful to keep hands and clothing away from the fan impeller. Getting caught in the rotating fan blades can result in serious injury.
The entry of the arrow into the red zone is accompanied by the inclusion of a control lamp for overheating of the coolant. At the same time, the major fault warning lamp comes on (lamp «STOP»).
Speedometer
Shows the current vehicle speed in km/h.
Tachometer
The tachometer shows the engine speed in revolutions per minute (x100).
Do not allow the engine to operate in such modes when the arrow enters the red zone of the scale.
Fuel gauge
Shows the current fuel level. Insufficient fuel level is indicated by the corresponding control lamp (see below). Turning on the control lamp indicates that there is a reserve amount of fuel in the tank, which is enough for 50 km of travel.
Note. The volume of fuel required to fill an empty tank may be less than the rated capacity of the tank because there is always a small amount of fuel left in the tank.
Note. When driving on uneven or winding roads, the gauge readings may differ from the true values due to fluctuations in the fuel in the tank. Check the fuel level while driving on a straight, level road.
Warning. Do not let the fuel in the tank run out completely. Engine misfiring can lead to catalytic converter failure.
Multi-function display of odometer/trip counter/maintenance required/engine oil level
After switching on the ignition, the display shows the following information in sequence:
- mileage until next service,
- odometer / trip odometer readings,
- engine oil level (on vehicles with a diesel engine).
Display of mileage until next service
Immediately after the ignition is switched on, the wrench symbol lights up on the display for 5 seconds and indicates how many kilometers the car has left to travel before the next scheduled maintenance.
5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, odometer or trip odometer information appears (see below).
If the next service is less than 1,000 km away, the wrench symbol will not go out after the odometer or trip odometer information appears and will stay on until the service indicator is reset to zero (see below).
If the period for the next maintenance has already expired, after the ignition is switched on, the wrench symbol lights up on the display for 5 seconds and with the help of flashing numbers it is indicated by how many kilometers the car has exceeded the period for the next maintenance. After 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on, when the odometer or trip odometer information appears, the wrench symbol does not go out and will remain on until the service indicator is reset to zero (see below).
Attention! The vehicle needs to be serviced as soon as possible.
Odometer/trip meter display
Shows the total or daily mileage of the vehicle. Switching between the two modes and resetting the counter is performed by the corresponding button (see below).
Note. The total and daily mileage information is available for approximately 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off, when the driver's door is opened, and when the vehicle is locked.
Engine oil level indicator
The engine oil level indicator on vehicles with a diesel engine comes on for approximately 10 seconds when the ignition is turned on after the mileage until the next service and odometer or tripmeter information.
Five or six squares - the oil level is normal. A smaller number - you need to add oil as soon as possible. But before topping up, be sure to check the oil level with a dipstick (see relevant chapter). To measure, park the vehicle on a level surface and let the engine cool down for approximately 10 minutes.
Note. An elevated oil level can cause engine problems.
Insufficient oil level, which can lead to engine failure, is indicated by flashing 6 segments on the display. In this case, contact your Citroen dealer as soon as possible.
Resetting the mileage indicator until the next service
This procedure is performed using the odometer/trip meter toggle button and odometer reset button (see below). A detailed description of the procedure is given in chapter 1A or 1B (depending on engine type).
Button for switching the odometer / daily mileage counter and resetting the counter
When displaying the total mileage, a short press of the button leads to the display of the mileage for a single trip (per day).
When displaying the daily mileage, a short press of the button leads to the display of the total mileage.
When the daily mileage is displayed, long press the button (holding for more than 3 seconds) resets the trip meter to zero.
Instrument panel illumination dimmer button
Pressing this button while the parking lights are on increases or decreases the brightness of the instrument panel and multifunction display illumination. Upon reaching the minimum (or maximum) release the button and then press it again. to increase or decrease the light level.
Once the brightness is as desired, release the button.
Control lamp of a charge of the rechargeable battery
The lamp lights up red when the ignition is switched on and goes out immediately after starting the engine.
If the light comes on while the engine is running, this indicates a malfunction in the charging system, poor contact at the battery or starter terminals, or a loose/broken alternator belt. You should immediately stop, try to find out and eliminate the cause of this phenomenon or seek qualified help.
Control lamp of insufficient oil pressure in the engine lubrication system
The lamp lights up red when the ignition is switched on and goes out immediately after starting the engine.
This lamp works in conjunction with the Serious Malfunction Indicator Lamp (lamp «STOP»).
If the lamp does not go out, stays on or flashes while the vehicle is moving, stop the vehicle as soon as possible and turn off the engine immediately. Check engine oil level before driving (see above). If it is low, add oil to the required level. If the oil level is normal and the lamp remains on, stop the engine and seek qualified assistance.
If a heavy load has been placed on the engine, the lamp may flash when idling. However, under light acceleration, it should go out.
Warning lamp for parking brake activation and low brake fluid level / malfunction in the electronic brake force distribution system
The lamp lights up red in three cases:
- when moving the parking brake lever to the up position:
- when the brake fluid level drops below the minimum allowable value (with the parking brake released);
- at the same time as the ABS warning light comes on to indicate a malfunction in the electronic brake force distribution system (in the presence of).
This lamp works in conjunction with the Serious Malfunction Indicator Lamp (lamp «STOP»).
If the lamp lights up when the parking brake is released, check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir (see relevant chapter). If the fluid level is normal, seek qualified assistance immediately.
Attention! If this warning light comes on while driving with the parking brake off, stop immediately at the nearest safe section of the road. Reduce speed slowly. Brake very carefully. Avoid sudden pressure on the brake pedal. After stopping, try to find and eliminate the cause of this phenomenon or seek qualified help. Do not continue driving until the problem is corrected.
ABS warning lamp
The lamp lights up yellow when the ignition is turned on and goes out immediately after starting the engine, confirming the system is working.
If it lights up while driving, this indicates a malfunction in the ABS system. Contact your dealer to check the status of the system.
Note. If the ABS system fails, the conventional braking system will operate normally. The brake force distribution system will operate with reduced efficiency.
Attention! Vehicles with ABS are also equipped with brake force distribution (EBD). Simultaneous activation of the parking brake activation warning lamps (see above) and ABS indicates a malfunction in this system. In this case, sudden braking can lead to premature locking of the rear wheels with the possibility of skidding. Brake very carefully. Avoid sudden pressure on the brake pedal. At the earliest opportunity, contact your dealer to check the status of the system.
Driver seat belt reminder warning light
The lamp lights up red if the driver's seat belt remains unfastened.
