Removing
1. Fully apply the parking brake. Raise the front of the vehicle and securely jack stands under it (see «Lifting and placing the car on supports»). Disconnect the wire «masses» from battery (see «Disconnecting the battery»).
2. If necessary turn out bolts and screws, take clamps and remove the bottom protection from under the engine in gathering with a transmission.
3. Drain the engine oil, then clean and install the oil drain plug to the specified torque. If the prescribed engine service interval is approaching, when the oil and filter must be changed, it is recommended to remove the filter now as well and replace it with a new one. After assembly, you can fill the engine with fresh oil. For more information, please refer to chapter 1B.
4. On A/C models, remove the accessory drive belt as described in chapter 1B. Turn out bolts and turn away nuts of fastening of the compressor. Separate the compressor from the sump and place it away from the sump. Tie the compressor to a suitable vehicle element to prevent excessive deformation of the refrigerant lines. Be careful not to lose the spacers removed from the rear compressor mounts (in the presence of). Warning. Do not disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor (refer to the warnings in chapter 3). Tie the compressor securely to prevent damage to the refrigerant lines.
5. Gradually release and turn out all bolts of fastening of the oil pallet. On some models it may be necessary to remove the flywheel cover from the transmission in order to gain access to the cool sump mountings by removing the appropriate bolts.
6. Because the sump bolts vary in length, they must be unscrewed in order and stored in the correct installation sequence. To ensure safety, insert the bolts into the holes cut in a piece of cardboard and clearly marked. During installation, this will avoid the risk of misalignment of the bolts.
7. Open the joint, for which you should knock on the pallet with the palm of your hand. Then lower the pallet and remove it from under the car. If the tray is not removed (and it's quite likely), a spatula or similar tool can be used to separate the joint, which should be carefully inserted between the oil pan and the block. Run a spatula around the perimeter of the joint, releasing the oil pan. While the oil pan is removed, take the opportunity to inspect the oil pump/strainer for signs of blockage or damage. If necessary, remove the pump as described in paragraph 15, and clean or replace the strainer. Keep in mind that on late 2.0L engines, the dipstick tube extends to the bottom of the oil pan so that oil can be sucked out through the tube using special equipment.
Installation
8. Remove all traces of sealant/gasket material from the mating surfaces of the engine block/crankcase and oil pan, and then wipe the oil pan and the inside of the engine with a clean rag.
9. Apply a thin coat of an appropriate sealant to the mating surface of the oil pan.
10. On models with air conditioning, make sure that the dowel pin is installed correctly (-ov) oil pan (if applicable).
11. Move the oil pan to the cylinder block/crankcase. Screw in the appropriate bolts. Tighten all bolts evenly and progressively by hand and then to the prescribed torque.
12. If necessary, check that the spacers are (in the presence of) correctly installed on the rear compressor feet, and then align the A/C compressor with the sump. Install appropriate bolts and nuts. Torque tighten the front compressor mounting bolts first (on the pulley side of the drive belt), and then the rear bolts (see chapter 3). Install the accessory drive belt as described in chapter 1B.
13. Install the bottom guard (in the presence of), then lower the vehicle and fill the engine with oil as described in chapter 1B.
