This chapter includes detailed information on removing the engine/transmission assembly from the vehicle, as well as information on overhauling the cylinder head, engine block/crankcase, and other internal engine components.
You will find a wide range of information here - from preparation for repair and the acquisition of new components and parts, to step-by-step procedures for removing, inspecting, repairing and installing internal engine components.
After paragraph 5 all instructions are given on the assumption that the engine has already been removed from the vehicle. For information on repairing the engine without removing it from the vehicle, as well as on removing and installing external components, which is necessary for a complete overhaul, refer to the corresponding paragraph of the chapter 2B or 2B (whichever is applicable) and to paragraph 6 of this chapter. After removing the engine, disregard all preliminary disassembly operations (described in the relevant paragraphs on repair without removal from the vehicle), which are no longer relevant.
With the exception of the tightening torques given at the beginning of the chapter 2B or 2B, all technical data regarding engine overhauls are given at the beginning of this chapter.
