If a generator malfunction is suspected. it should be removed from the vehicle and taken to an automotive electrician for inspection. Most automotive electricians can provide new brushes and install them at a reasonable cost. However, before proceeding, evaluate the cost of repairs, as it may be cheaper to purchase a new or remanufactured generator on an exchange basis.
